FAQ Botulinum Toxin

Botox is a brand name for Botulinum Toxin type A. Botulinum toxin type A is used for wrinkles.

Botulinum toxin is used for:

  • Decreasing frown, forehead and crow’s feet wrinkles
  • Decreasing sweating in the armpits, handpalms and feet
  • Helps against migraine
  • Helps against teethgrinding

Yes, if botulinum toxin is used in the right dosages for the right places. If too high dosages are used, the facial expressions will be less, which looks unnatural.

Botulinum toxin is used to paralyse muscles and hereby to prevent dynamic lines becoming static lines. Thus, it reduces wrinkles and prevents them becoming deeper. Fillers are used to add volume where volume is already lost. Fillers can also be used to enhance the face by adding more volume to areas required. It can be used to fill the lips, cheeks, chin, jawline and more.

Dynamic lines are only visible when a facial expression is made. Examples for dynamic lines are frown, forehead and crow’s feet lines, which are only visible when you look angry, surprized and smile.

Static lines are always visible wether you have facial expressions or not. Whereas dynamic lines are only visible when there is a facial expression. Botulinum toxin treats dynamic lines better, whereas static lines need more time and thus more often treatments with botulinum toxin.

Botulinum toxin works by blocking the nerve cells innervating the muscles.

After 2-4 days botulinum toxin will start working. The wrinkles will get less. After 14 days the maximum result will be visible.

Everyone starting at the age of 18 years old, is allowed to be treated with botulinum toxin.

Botulinum toxin treats wrinkles, but also the starting wrinkles or to prevent wrinkles.

Yes, before we start, we want to know your medical history. Additionally, we want to make a treatment plan together with you.

Botulinum toxin is used to lift the endings of the eyebrow with 1-2 mm. The botulinum toxin is placed right below the ending (tail) of the eyebrow on both eyebrows. To lift the inner part of the eyebrow, frown treatment is being performed.

The duration differs from person to person. Generally botulinum toxin has 3-6 months result. The higher the metabolism, the faster the body will get rid off botulinum toxin. Which means, if you exercise often, botulinum toxin will last for a shorter period of time.

Yes, botulinum toxin is being used for a long time in medicine now. It only has local effect, and does not blend systemically.

The treatment takes only 10 minutes. The consultation and preparation of botulinum toxin together might take half an hour.

The first 4-6 hours, you are not allowed to lay down. For this increases the chance of botulinum toxin to move to other areas then intended.

The first 24 hours, you are not allowed to exercise, take a hot shower, hot bath, sauna or sun tanning

The first 24 hours, you are not allowed to put make-up on the treatment areas.

The dosage varies per patient and the wishes/desires of the patient. Some want the most natural look as possible, while others want the muscles to be entirely paralysed. We talk beforehand about your wishes and what is possible, then we do.

No, botulinum toxin does not poison you and it is not harmful in the dosages we use in aesthetics.

Usually we use the brand BOCOUTURE. If the client wants us to use another brand like BOTOX or Dysport, we need to order it.

We use BOCOUTURE, because BOCOUTURE does not contain complex proteins. Complex proteins can trigger the autoimmune system. After being triggered, it can get rid off the toxin much faster. This results in shorter lasting results of botulinum toxin treatment.

Botulinum toxin does not fill the lips as normally thought. Filling the lips is done by fillers like hyaluronic acid.

Botulinum toxin paralyses the muscle orbicularis oris around the mouth, resulting in lipflip effect and/or decreasing barcode lines.

One zone is frown lines OR forehead OR Crow’s feet.

Yes, you can have a botulinum toxin treatment before you get pregnant.

No, we advice not to use botulinum toxin treatment while you are pregnant.

Yes, if you do not breastfeed your baby, you can have a botulinum toxin treatment.

There is no real evidence that botulinum toxin is to be found in breast milk. Despite this fact, we do not advice being treated with botulinum toxin.

We use a very small and thin needle to inject botulinum toxin. It can be sensitive for some, and no problem for the other.

Botulinum toxin helps to prevent the secretion of sweat by blocking the sweat glands. The results are on average 6-9 months and significantly longer then when the face is treated.

No, on the contrary. After stopping with the treatment, you can expect to sweat less than before starting with the treatment.

It is not really known how botulinum toxin helps to treat migraine. Botulinum toxin is injected on certain points to decrease the episodes, pain and duration of the migraine attack.

Consult your doctor first. It could depend on which type of auto-immune disease you have. Mostly, it is safe to have a treatment with botulinum toxin.

It depends on what kind of a muscle disease you have. In some cases it is contra-indicated to be treated with botulinum toxin. Consult your doctor first.

Some of the neurologic diseases might be contra-indicated to be treated with botulinum toxin. Consult your doctor first.

No, we only use temporary injectables.

Yes, botulinum toxin is not permanent and has only temporary results. The results can last between 3-6 months. Hereafter, it is recommended to be treated again to improve or keep the results.

Two weeks after the treatment you will see the maximum results. Generally, the first month the treated area is completely dry. Altough, the results will last for longer, but gradually decrease over time.

Yes, botulinum toxin relaxes the muscles involved in teethgrinding. Therefore, you will have less complaints with teethgrinding.

FAQ Fillers

A filler is a product used in aesthetics to give more volume and hydrate a specific area. As we age, we all lose some volume in the face. We mostly lose volume in the areas: around the eyes, cheeks, forehead, temples and mouth.

Fun fact: at the age 35 we already lost 10% of facial fat. Every 5-10 years we additionally lose 5-10% fat.

We use hyaluronic acid:

This type of filler adds volume and hydrates the desired area. We all have hyaluronic acid naturally in the skin. Unfortunately, hyaluronic acid decreases as we age.

We use Radiesse:

Radiesse is also called a biostimulator. This type of filler is harder in consistency than hyaluronic acid. This too adds volume, but also induces the production of collagen and elastine by your own body.

We use Sculptra:

This is actually not a filler, but a biostimulator. This is specifically used to stimulate collagen and elastine and less to give more volume.

We use hyaluronic acid to give more volume to the lips, to reduce facial lines and wrinkles and to give more contour to e.g. the jawline and cheeks.

The results are visible between 6-12 months.

We use Radiesse, if we want to give more contour and lift specific areas in the face. Furthermore, we use Radiesse as a biostimulator. In other words, we use Radiesse to stimulate your own bodies collagen and elastine. This way, the skin receives a more youthfull appearance.

After being treated for the first time, Radiesse lasts for 12 months. After follow-up treatments, Radiesse can last for 18 months.

Sculptra is a collagen stimulator. This product gives the most natural result in our opinion. The collagen is gradually boosted, thus the results are NOT immediately visible after injection. You will see the results in 2-3 months. Sculptra needs 2-3 sessions, once per month.

Sculptra lasts for 2 years.

If necessary, we use anesthetic cream or anesthetic injections, before starting the treatment. The treatment itself does not hurt after the anesthetic is applied. The injections are applied with a small needle.

For all treatments we perform, you need to be at least 18 years old.

Hyaluronic acid and Radiesse fillers give immediate results during/after the treatment.

The result of sculptra is visible after 2-3 months.

Fillers are safe when injected by an experienced professional. If the filler is injected in a bloodvessel or compresses a bloodvessel, the tissue can die. For this, it is most important to choose your healthcare professional wisely.

The treatment takes somewhere between 15-30 minutes, depending on the treated area. Consultation beforehand is mandatory. Consultation takes generally 20-30 minutes.

No, we only use temporary fillers.

Permanent fillers can not be absorbed by the body. It contains substances which are NOT naturally found in the body.

Permanent fillers increase the chance on complications, and they can become visible under the skin after aging. It is not easy to remove permanent fillers.

Hyaluronic acid fillers can be dissolved with hyaluronidase whenever the patient wants.

Tyndell effect is a blue coloration of the skin. It can be caused by a filler placed too superficially or used too much of the filler.

Yes, fillers can be used to give more volume to the back of the hands. Hyaluronic acid is being used to give more volume and hydrate the skin of the hand, while Radiesse and Sculptra produces more collagen, and thus gives a more firm and more tonus to the skin.

Yes, fillers can be used to give more contour, lift and volumize the butts. Hyaluronic acid, Radiesse and Sculptra can be used for different purposes. Usually, more sessions are needed to have the desired results.

The fillers are placed superficially, while the important blood vessels are to be found deeper. If done by an experienced professional, it is much safer then a butt lift with lipofilling.

FAQ Sclerotherapy

Sclerotherapy is an injection procedure to treat varicose veins and spider veins. We use aethoxysklerol (sclerosing solution) to treat varicose veins. We inject this solution into the small veins with a very small needle. Aethoxysklerol irritates the vein causing it to collapse. The vein undergoes fibrosis and disappears.

Varicose veins are most common in women aging 30-50. It may occur during pregnancy and menopause. These pink/purple veins are mostly harmless.

No, it does not require anesthesia.

Aethoxysklerol contains polidocanol.

Generally, 2-4 treatments are required to see the best results.

Few veins? 1-2 sessions should be enough.

New veins can be created during lifetime. These can be treated too.

We use very small needles. You can feel a little sting for a few seconds after each injection. Most people can tolerate the procedure.

It is a cosmetic problem, the varicose veins, spider veins do not harm the body. Some people find that their veins might cause some aching. This can be relieved with this treatment.

A consultation is mandatory before starting the treatment. This may take 20 minutes. The treatment takes usually 30-60 minutes.

Not everyone. Pregnancy or breastfeeding is contra-indicated, and we do not treat people younger then 18 years old. Other contra-indications are: Uncontrolled diabetes, local infection, fever, history of deep vein thrombosis, anticoagulants and corticosteroid. Furthermore, cardiovascular diseases and heart bypass surgery history

Some practitioners treat the face and the arms with sclerotherapy. We do not have experience treating these areas.

For varicose veins and spider veins on the leg, we prefer sclerotherapy.

For veins on the face, lasertherapy might be a better option.

For most people. sclerotherapy is safe. If you have contra-indications, it is better not to do this treatment. The side effects are mostly mild and short-term.

There is not really a downtime after this procedure. We encourage you to continue your daily habits and fitness routine.

Wear compression garnments, as this will improve your results and healing process.

60-80 % is improved after the first treatment.

What about 20-40% which is not improved you ask?

  • 20-40% mostly improves after the following treatments.

You can expect full results within 3-6 weeks after your last performed treatment.

More treatment sessions are necessary to have better results.

  • Ultrasound guided foam sclerotherapy
  • Endovenous laser ablation
  • Radiofrequency ablation
  • Mechanico-chemical ablation

Bigger veins can be removed surgically.

We do not offer these options in our clinic.

FAQ PDO Threads

PDO thread is a synthetic absorbable surgical suture made from polydioxanone.

In the medical field it is used in cardiothoracic surgeries (open-heart surgeries).

When implatented, the suture induces the fibroblast cells to make more collagen and thus leading to selective inflammatory response. In other words: it works by creating controlled healing.

Yes, we have three different kinds of PDO threads:

  • Mono thread: This thread is only to produce more collagen and give firmness, tightening and rejuvenation to the skin.
  • Screw thread: These are one or two intertwined threads that give more volume to sunken areas on the face.
  • Cog thread: These threads are used to lift tissue and give the effect of a face lift.

Absolutely! It is one of the safest materials to be implanted in the body.

Depending on the PDO thread, it can lift tissue, regenerate the skin, give more firmness and volume to the skin.

You will experience minimal pain during this procedure, because the areas can be numbed with an anaesthetic creme.

Face:

  • Cheeks
  • Brow
  • Nasolabial fold
  • marionette lines
  • Jawline
  • Neck

Body:

  • Whole body, including, arms, thighs and abdomen.

The procedure itself can take between 45-60 minutes. Including the preperation it can take a maximum of 2 hours.

The production of collagen and elastine is starting one month after the procedure. The peak results are visible after 6 months.

The results are progressive. By repeating the procedure, the results can last for 2-3 years.

FAQ PRP

PRP is an abbreviation for ‘Platelet Rich Plasma’. It is obtained by your own blood by centrifugating your blood. The yellow part is taken out and used on the area of treatment.

PRP is a regenerative injection therapy. Used in the medical and cosmetic fields.

Absolutely! PRP is 100% natural and from your own body! The hormones and platelets are concentrated and injected back in your body, in the target area.

We can use PRP for:

  • New hair growth, hairthickness and health.
  • Vampire facial: Regeneration of the facial skin.
    • Reducing pigmentations
    • Firmer skin
    • More glow
    • Smooth skin
    • Hydrated skin

    • More youthfull skin
    • Firmer, smoother skin which is very well hydrated.
    • Also targets the aging spots.

Everyone’s pain tolerance is different. The discomfort ranges from mild to moderate.

We mostly inject the PRP with microneedling. Microneedling too has skin health benefits. It produces collagen and elastine by its own. Both together are super collagen boosters!

Sometimes we inject the PRP with a single needle. We do this in areas which are diffuclt to reach with microneedling.

The treatment self takes 30-45 minutes to apply the PRP. Preparing the PRP + the consultation can take an hour. In total it can take 1.5-2 hours.

You can see results after one-two weeks after treatment. The results are building up for the next 6 months.

We recommend to be treated with PRP for once per month, for three months and then to do maintenance therapy every 4-6 months. This applies for the hair, face and hands.

Yes, 100%. PRP is prepared from your own blood without anything added.

Normally not.  But, we can add vitamins/minerals, hairgrowth substances for the hair if you wish.

We can also add vitamins/minerals (NCTF) to facial and hand treatments.

FAQ Fat-burning

Lipolysis means fat burning. We use lipoenzymes (e.g. Desobody & Desoface) to dissolve stubborn fat.

We use lipoenzymes to dissolve stubborn fat. Some areas are hard to burn off. Lipoenzymes are an excellent way to dissolve problematic areas.

Yes, the fat cells that are destroyed, don’t return. Your weight should be stable, because the remaining fat cells still can grow in size.

Lipoenzymes are much safer, have no downtime/recovery time. Lipoenzymes give permanent results.

Liposuction gives immediate results, but sadly not always long lasting results.

The area is locally anaesthesized. The lipoenzyme is mixed with an anaesthetic drug. The treatment is mostly not painful, you might even feel nothing.

After the procedure it can be a little sensitive. Only 4% of people require paracetamol painkillers.

Yes, you can dissolve the remaining fat cells with lipoenzymes.

We don’t treat people younger than 18 years old. This treatment is not intended to lose weight. The best results are seen in people with normal- little above normal BMI and thus not for obese people.

Certain severe diseases are contra-indicated. Consult your doctor.

This is a personal preference.

If you want quick results, and it does not matter if you need to recover for couple of weeks, and if it does not matter to have temporary or permanent results. Choose for Liposuction!

If you don’t mind seeing the results after couple of months, but you want permanent results without recovery time. Choose for the lipoenzymes!
